The Fantoni Group's presence at the Sicam exhibition in Pordenone, from 20 to 23 October, features an innovative range of wood and decorative finishes which are based on the results of analysis of the latest market trends.
Research into new types of MDF offering specific performances, facing of panels with fine decorative papers, the development of ever-slimmer high resistance panels and the most advanced technologies for recycling wood have always been at the heart of the Fantoni Research Centre's activities.
For Fantoni, Sicam is undoubtedly the reference event on the international exhibition scene at which to present not only all the types of raw panels it has to offer, but also its new decorative and wood finishes.
Research is now directed towards identifying new woods, such as straight-grained larch or pine, sliced veneers from fashionable woods such as oak which intentionally highlight the imperfections in the way the wood is cut, or the more traditional Canaletto walnut. Three shades are offered for each type of wood, to broaden the range.
In addition to the more traditional melamine facing, the 3D finish, that follows the trend of the most fashionable woods and reduces the gap between real wood and traditional melamine facing, is a superb fusion of visual and tactile effects.
New in CPL finishes: the objective with these is to combine the simplest decorative finishes with others that have an attractive feel. Such as the Brushed finish which revives, with greater elegance, a trend that was popular 30 years ago, or the Canneto finish that becomes iridescent under different angles of light.
In terms of applications, combinations between plain pastel colours and innovative finishes such as Juta Lucida are of great interest.
Microtrim, another product patented by La-Con for its unprecedented level of plasticity, is suitable for coating wood, MDF or chipboard surfaces of any type. In particular, its great plasticity means that it can be used for coating extremely tight curves, making it suitable for a wide variety of applications.
Of particular interest is its application in the interior door sector, where the dynamic look of its decorative finishes with three-dimensional pore structure can be fully appreciated. Also of great value are applications on furniture or furnishing components, where the radius of curvature required during application can be tight, or even very tight (for example the aluminium handles for sliding components on wardrobes).
The unique and attractive look can be appreciated when Microtrim is used for facing front panels: in these applications in fact, due to the mix of resins and pearlescent components used in production, the look of the decorative finish appears to move as the viewing angle or the angle at which light strikes it change.
