Fantoni’s agency in Palermo presents Blueindustry series book 8 at the Palazzo dei Normanni

March 8, 2008

On 9 March last, book 8 of the Blueindustry book series has been presented before the Sicilian audience. The topic – acoustics – developed through an unusual performance – was the protagonist of the event hosted in the Palazzo dei Normanni in Palermo for special permission of the Regional Assembly of Sicily.

The cultural value of the Blueindustry book series edited by Fantoni is well known. a publication which collects the history, experiences, experiments of the group and turns them into a useful tool on specific topics even for the less specialized readers. Number 8 -  Bluesound - is the first volume dedicated to such a specific topic as acoustics.

The book – edited by Patrizia Novajra -  is the result of the collaboration with experts in the field such as professor Diego Gonzalez of the CNR (National Research Council), professor Antonino di Bella of the Department of Technical Physics, University of Padua, acoustic designer Livio Consolino and engineer Alberto Asquini of the Department of Energetics and Machines, University of Udine. The book developes all aspects of acoustics, from the perceptual and sensory aspects to its development over the years, form the psycological aspect to the more technical features, down to the concepts of architectural acoustics and geometry of sound. Then follow the studies on acoustical well-being developed by the Fantoni Research Centre and an overview of the most important projects accomplished concerning acoustical upgrading.

The book’s presentation was meant to be an experience of sensory perception of acoustics value, not a mere didactical and information event. And which are the main tools to experience good acoustics? Music and voice for sure, and that is why Bluesound by Fantoni will be narrated by actor Massimo Somaglino through a tale history between music and voice (with the talent of cellist Andrea Musto) to discover acoustics. An exciting and brilliant performance the one we experienced at the Palazzo dei Normanni. A perfect combination between music and narration of a tale which winds from one event to another one, revealing the difficulties of obtaining a perfect acoustics but finally reaching that acoustic quality which determines people’s well-being.

The prestigious seat of the Sicilian Parliament, conceded out of exception for the event to La Mantia, Fantoni's agency in Palermo,  was also the venue for a brief concert of some members of the Academy of Music Vincenzo Bellini of Palermo directed by maestro Carmelo Caruso.
